Atlantic Avenue Shop
Brooklyn, New York. Completed in 2005.
This space was completely unfinished when our client contacted us- there were plywood sheets over the glassless windows- wanting to turn it into a high-end home furnishings store. Located in the lower level of a brick residence on Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue, the only thing we kept were the wide plank wood floorboards.
The space was meant to be a neutral environment to display the beautifully designed objects within it- the whole shop is meant to be like a jewel box. We mounted acrylic vitrines on the wall for the jewelry, and lined the walls with white lacquered shelves. The brick façade was cleaned and structurally strengthened and we installed new windows and doors. At the back of the shop a new metal and glass façade accesses a garden extension of the shop.
