  • The owner collects pop art. All materials were chosen to provide a neutral background for his collection. When the bamboo doors are open, one can see from the bedroom through to the living room.

  • The master bathroom is tiled in three shades of matte glass tile, with a Corian counter and sink.

  • The master bedroom bed is made of bamboo, with inset storage next to the mattress. Four toplit sliding sheer panels surround the bed.
  • To expand the view of the Manhattan skyline, the deep window openings were framed with mirrors. Bamboo shelves in the office hold audio equipment, lacquered cabinets below hold files.

  • The kitchen bar is a place for guests to hang out. The kitchen is used for cocktails more than cooking.
  • The small kitchen is tiled in stainless steel tiles, with travertine slab counters, white lacquer cabinets, and a dropped bamboo ceiling.

  • The bamboo box leads to the kitchen. The entry hall floor is travertine, as are the kitchen counters.
  • Over the entry is a shallow bamboo box that holds inset linear incandescent fixtures. The central bamboo core holds a coat closet, deep storage, office supplies, and two sets of sliding doors depending on which room it is facing.
  • Cabinets divide the entry hall from the living area and act as a visual screen. When the bamboo doors are shut, the living room and the office/ guest room are separated.
